Nice post Desode.

Most of the flight sim community has just recently suffered a very big disappointment. The biggest anti-climax in the history of flight sims. This announcement comes just at the right time (apart from the calendar date!).

This project has been secretly worked on since 2009. I really do believe that what they promise is achievable and the epic air battles that we envisage will be a reality.

I never would have believed a WWII flight sim could perform so well, look so incredible and immerse me so deeply until Wings of Prey came along.
Gaijin can pull this off

...It's expected that average duration of each war will be about 3 months.

...and across all those theatres. If this becomes a reality, I will never see daylight again LOL

Yeah Glo we have both been around these Gaijin guys for a good while now and I believe they will pull this off.

Plus, I too will not see the light of day when this thing hits !
Like you said the timing is perfect for this announcment, I bet that with in no time , the web will be a buzz about this.

This is very true, but I wouldn't be so quick to write off Oleg and his team. The first IL2 had it's fair share of issues too and it took years after release until it was crafted into the classic it is today. Both Gaijin and Maddox bring something unique to the military flight sim world, so I support them both. If anything I wish there was more competition.

I'm still waiting for Anton to say "April Fools!" though, as this game sounds too good to be true.

What do I think? Fabulous!

Most of my flight simming is MP. I use SP to train for MP, so WoPlanes adds up for me. Some more thoughts:

1) I'll happily pay for extra planes sets, but can you allow a program to purchase a batch of planes with a slight discount. For example, instead of buying a plane for $2.00, can I buy 10 planes for say $18.00? I've purchased the entire IL2 series and didn't blink an eye paying for that series.

2) Please, real or better plane engine and other sounds. See earlier post

3) I'd rather have more planes in the air (sp and mp) than beautiful, highly detailed ground objects that sacrifice fps. I'm sure you're getting plenty of market fedback from the CoD threads.

4) In the beginning, I flew WoP over IL2 1946 because of its leading engine and direction of Gaijin. However, I went back to IL2 because there was little WoP MP actitivity. Just another voice to wish that WoPlanes captures many simmers, especially the hard core fliers, like me.

5) I beta tested WoP. I'll pay to do it again for WoPlanes.

6) When will the WoPlanes forum posted?

7) I love the idea of a war that takes place over weeks/months.

8) Can you share how customers will pay for WoPlanes? Subscription? Retail Box? Steam?

9) Will the game utilize mutli-chip platforms and threading?

Thanks for the GREAT news! Been waiting to hear something and it sounds fantastic!
But, is this the long awaited sequel? Regardless, this is wonderful news!

I just hope that it will also accomodate the single-players...like me!

As you all may know we are working on sequel, and this sequel will be announced really soon.

And I expect that the feature-set and platform-list of the sequel will surprise you even more, than this fake announcement.
And next time we will have new logo, not the almost exactly to Wings of Prey one and new screenshots (not just good old WoP ones)
BTW, I am happy that it still looks good enough to make announcement, but please expect new screenshots to be more interesting

I just hope that it will also accomodate the single-players...like me!

Really, the joke was expected to be found as a joke at least by community - we used old logo and screenshots from old game. Well, good thing is that old game is still looking good

I really liked the idea of a persistent MP world ! That is kind of like a dream of mine.

P.S. I am glad, that we think in a one direction . Although we can't make really full online game for consoles - I guess, you would like what you'll found in a sequel.

I am sorry if you did't like it.

And you right, the "World of Tanks" and our real thoughts of making similair title WAS the actual reason why we have made this joke.

So, the joke part is that "World of Tanks" isn't simulation game at all. WoT is about tanks, and it is great online game - but it is not hardcore simulation at all.
I think, any mass-popular online game could not be too hardcore simulation.
So, THAT was a joke part - about our game being hardcore simulation, which is even more realistic than real life itself.
Well, if you think about "being more realistic than real life", you will realize it can't be truth, it even sounds funny.

As for general idea of online game about aviation - well, stay tuned.

But the sequel can't be PC-only online game. It just won't be a sequel of single-player cross-platform game then (what would make it 'sequel'?).

In the future, I suggest Gaijin refrain from comedy and work on making a kickass sequel to WOP.
